Aunt Sara and Kili'ou'ou Ridge

Cam's sister Sara (who has staked a claim on the "favorite aunt" title) came to visit with her boyfriend KC a couple of weeks ago. It was fantastic to see them both!

Yesterday, Cam, Willie, Miles, and I hiked the Kilo'ou'ou Ridge Trail. We have been planning on doing some backpacking while in Oregon this summer, and figured we should get back into hiking shape, see how Miles does in the pack, etc. Miles was great, but the baby/pack combo is HEAVY! Not sure how we're going to add enough stuff for camping................contrary to what is represented by these pix, Cam actually carried the baby most of the time :-)

By the way.....I (obviously) have no idea how to format these posts - If anyone wants to enlighten me (Jamie, Dena, Dine - Hint, hint - I've seen your blogs - I know you know how!) I'd be most appreciative!

so it's been awhile...........

I realized the other day that my blog neglect began precisely at the same time that Miles started crawling.  Think the two could be related?  This kid is WILD - I'm really not sure where he gets it. but he pretty much never stops moving.

We've had some family visit - Cam's sister Sara and her boyfriend KC are here now (havent downloaded pix yet), my mom was here last week, and Cam's brother Corey was here a month or so ago.

My first semester of PhD school is over and I pulled straight A's!  Tomorrow my field crew starts - a different kind of crazy, but hopefully I'll get more sleep than I did during spring semester.

February 09

So now it seems that i'm too busy to do anything more than post pictures of little M for our families to see............

One bit of upcoming excitement - M and I are going to LA next month to see Elton John! And also my Reno crew - bit of a reunion - see a great show, then head over to Joshua Tree to do a little hiking and climbing before jetting back. It'll be a break well earned...........but still so far away.

And we're moving...........yet again. This will be M's 4th home in his 5 months. Long story. Crazy lady. Enough said.

Willie and Miles love each other. Miles doesnt laugh so hard for anyone else.

We started giving him rice cereal about a week ago. He likes it, but it's not getting us any extra sleep. Oh yeah, did I mention he's waking up about 4 times per night again - teeth perhaps?

Back to work................

Honozoolu

Contrary to all our expectations - we're absolutely loving the city. We were dreading having to move to Honolulu, but we're having a blast. We're living in the heart of the city, and can walk to campus and to Waikiki. Plus, all the great city things are here - indian food, theater, community gardens, etc, etc, etc.
I'm crazy busy with this school business, but so far, so good. It's just going to require a lot of discipline (which I'm not known for having) to stay on top of the game.
Miles is fantastic. He is such a mellow, happy little guy. He's started rolling over, and can sit up by himself for a few seconds at a time. I'm pretty sure he's going to get some teeth one of these days. He drools constantly and puts everything in his mouth.
Back to Remote Sensing homework...........
Much love,
Cam, Lisa, and Miles

Waikiki, Turducken Day, First Camping Trip, and Little Surfer Boy

We're busy busy busy. Went to Honolulu for work, and Cam and Miles came along...looks like we'll be moving there in about a month.

Turducken part 2 was a grand success. We enjoyed spending the Thanksgiving holiday surrounded by many good friends.

Last weekend we took Miles on his first camping adventure, and he did great - the sun, waves, and sand suit this little monkey. The santa hat/surfboard photo shoot was for our christmas cards, but there were so many cute ones to choose from!!!

Life is busy in paradise. I never get to spend quite enough time with Miles and Cam, never get quite enough work done, quite enough exercise, or quite enough sleep. I'm not sure why I am always trying to do 80 thousand things at once.

We have some good friends who have been fairly successful at the diaper free baby method of "potty training". Basic premise is that young babies (like under 6 months) can be trained to stay dry. Cam just started trying this with M. We'll post updates.....seems amazing to me....

Oh - and I'm training for a marathon. HA!
